Melbourne’s Longest Running Book Club

We are a literary book club based in Ivanhoe, in the north-east of Melbourne. We meet monthly (March to December) on Tuesday nights to discuss important and interesting texts.

We welcome new members. If you love reading, sharing ideas and discussing books – get in touch or come to our next meeting. Everyone is welcome.

You can also share your enthusiasm for the Ivanhoe Reading Circle via Facebook:

The December meetings are end-of-year social gatherings. There is no book presentation for that month.

This report, written by Eleneth Woolley, gives you the opportunity to read about the Ivanhoe Reading Circle and its activities in 2023:

N.B. If you are not an IRC member and you would like to participate in any of the future Ivanhoe Reading Circle meetings, get in touch so that we can send you the link and any additional information.

In general, our meetings are quite structured. We begin with a short presentation on the month’s book, presented by a Reading Circle member.  The meeting is then opened to everyone for questions and discussion.  In April or May each year, we invite a guest to provide a presentation based on a literary subject. The format of this meeting differs from that of the other meetings.

We value everyone’s voice and represent a diversity of ages and opinions.
